You could nearly buy a Perf and non-Perf versions of the "Racing D1 " model for that price. You can still get a plenty nice jacket for a good bit less. Durable 1.3 mm leather construction with flexible microfiber and aramidic stretch panels on back, chest, waist and arms. Love me some Dainese - but $1k for a jacket is a bit mental. Removable CE-certified Bio-Armor shoulder and elbow protection. But you'll notice that the perforated areas correspond to areas that are less likely to see abrasion in a crash and higher risk areas are solid leather. Now would solid leather hold up better than perf? Probably. It takes a good bit more effort to get a whole jacket that certification. This means the whole jacket - so areas of the jacket must all meet various abrasion resistance thresholds and the amour energy transmission limits. The jacket you linked to is CE Category II - 89/686/EEC Directive certified. You will die a miserable death of heat prostration in non perf stuff. I plan on starting to go to the track, I will eventually pick up a one piece, but I might use this two piece combo the first couple of times I go until I can afford the onesie.Īny advice from people that have dealt with this already would be very appreciated. I am worried about getting perforated gear and then just wearing under clothes during the winter to warm up, because the gear seems to be fairly form fitting and worried I wont be able to get anything on underneath it.ĭoes perforated gear protect as well as NON perf? I live in NC and will be riding year round. I can just not seem to decide on Perforated or non perforated. On days when the temp range is going to run from say the 50's to the low 80's and you need to get cooler as the day goes on I generally coose between the Monza (vented w/armor) and the perforated leather depending on mood because they are similar in weight but I generally find the perforated leather is a little more comfortable over that range.
